Li-Batt Prototypes

Nowadays, Lithium Batteries are virtually everywhere and they’re contained in a wide variety of gadgets which are a part of our all - day life. However, in all modes of transport only those Lithium Batteries and cells may be transported which have successfully underwent test in accordance with part III, subsection 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria. The successful pass of these tests must be proven.

Klicken zum vergrössernThis obligation is applicable even where batteries have been assemblied from cells which have successfully passed the UN tests - in such case, batteries or battery packs will have to be tested again.

However, frequently cells and batteries must be transported to the test location, or experimental vehicles and equipment have been outfitted with untested prototype batteries whose low production number does not warrant performing the required UN tests.

For the transport of untested batteries a competent authority approval - a special permit - is required; in air transport at least from the state of origin, the registry state of the aircraft and the airline in question and the departure state (which may be different from the state of origin) and sometimes also from the state(s) of transit and / or destination.

LOGAR has the know - how required for the speedy and effective transport of such prototypes. We evaluate the situation and facts, give recommendations for transport, required packaging and handling and request the required permits from the competent authorities concerned, both German and international.

Where so desired, we assist in finding the right forwarder and the right airline - more often than not, the most obvious solution may not be the best choice!

We also provide the complete transport - or project management, should the customer not have the required inhouse expertise for such specific tasks.
